Painting of a Wounded Soldier c.1830

Charming mid 19th.c. painting of a wounded soldier c.1830. A French Napoleonic era cavalry officer in uniform with splendid moustache stops beside a wooden house to have is wounded leg dressed by a lady (possibly an abbess) in a broad white hat. With a lake and mountains and a church in the background. Note the solidier’s pack and hat on the ground by his feet and the lady’’s brass bound medicine box. Painted in a naive style in oil on canvas. Minor damage to the canvas in the tree at the centre of the picture. Otherwise good condition, though would doubtless benifit from cleaning. Presented unframed on a simple wooden stretcher.
