Oak Bookcase c.1880
Late 19th.c. oak bookcase c.1880. Glazed two door top fitted with three adjustable shelves (depth 8¼") over a deeper cupboard base with a single shelf inside (internal depth 16") and two drawers in the waist. Just 77" tall, a little shorter than many we see. Ogee and dental moulded cornice, attractive carved detail above the glazing to the doors which also feature reeded pilasters with acanthus detail top and bottom. Crisply carved drawer fronts with large brass handles, flanked with acanthus corbels. Raised mouldings to the door panels, cushion mouldings to the pilasters. Raised on a moulded and inverse breakfronted plinth. Lovely golden coloured oak quarter sawn to show off a good pattern of medullary rays. Solid oak sides and drawer linings. Excellent condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops. Key supplied for the lower cupboard doors.
