Small Oak Dresser Base c.1750
Charming little mid 18th.c. open dresser base c.1750. Unusual small size, just 64½" wide. Good top with a 14" wide main board. Three drawers with attractive brass ring handles with pierced backplates. Note how the cockbeading is on the surrounding frame rather than at the edges of the drawer fronts, also the front to back grain of the drawer bottoms - both indicators of earlier 18th.c. cabinet making. Straight apron below the drawers, also cockbeaded along the bottom edge, with little shaped brackets where it meets the stiles. Simple square stiles front and rear with a moulded detail on the outer corners at the front. Oak panelled sides. Elm drawer bottoms and back board. Excellent condition and particularly good colour. Cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
