Small Arts & Crafts Hallstand by Shapland & Petter of Barnstaple c.1900
Small Arts & Crafts or Art Nouveau walnut hall stand by the acclaimed 'cabinet 'Art Furniture' makers Shapland & Petter of Barnstaple c.1900. Just 29½” wide. With seven double hooks for hats and coats etc. arranged on a solid walnut frame around a central mirror and shelf. Over the centre splat pierced with a heart shaped cutaway above a beautiful repoussé copper panel, a typical signature detail of Shapland & Petter’s furniture, featuring a stylized plant motif with enamelled detail. Small glove box with a lift-up lid flanked on each side with stick or umbrella stands with original removable drip trays in the base. Flared square tops to the front and rear stiles, repeated as feet at the front. Clearly stamped with the serial number R1180 on the rear. Excellent colour and condition with replacement hooks.
