Primitive Oak Six Plank Coffer c.1640

Primitive little 17th.c. oak six plank coffer c.1640. Just 35" wide, constructed from six oak boards, sturdy enough to use as a little hall seat with storage. With particularly attractive shaped feet, a simple moulded edge at the front of the lid, chip carved edges at the sides. Featuring an iron lockplate and stamped with the initials RC (probably a previous owner) in several places in the outside. Some early repairs and restorations, otherwise very good colour and condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
