Red Velvet Sculpture Pedestal with Revolving Top c.1900
Very unusual plinth or pedestal designed to take a large piece of sculpture c.1900. Wooden pedestal retaining the original red velvet covering with brass studs and a white painted skirting around the base. 17" x 13½" top with a moulded edge revolving on heavy brass barrel castors on a metal frame. The plinth itself is also raised on a matching but even larger set of castors recessed into the base. Presented as found, solid and sturdy with obvious wear to the velvet.
