Rosewood Pembroke Side Table c.1840
Mid 19th.c. rosewood Pembroke work table c.1840. Rosewood veneered top with two short folding leaves held on hinged loafers. Over a slim mahogany lined and lockable upper drawer and a large half-moon shaped basket drawer below, covered in yellow silk, originally intended to hold a lady's sewing or needlework. Note the little anthemion carvings either side of the upper drawer which repeated on the rear face of the table. Supported on a semi-circular yoke, also rosewood veneered, and a fine turned carved and segmented column with a gadrooned collar. Raised on a shaped plinth with quarter veneers and moulded edges over a carved frieze to each side and massive carved claw feet at the corners. Excellent colour and condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops. Key supplied.
