Pollard Oak Sideboard c.1880

Splendid late 19th.c. English pollard oak sideboard c.1880. Highly figured pollard or burr oak veneers laid in a symmetrical pattern on the top, with a deep moulded edge. Over two drawers and a cupboard at the centre, flanked with full length cupboard to both sides, the left fitted with two shelves, the right featuring a drawer in the top, a single shelf and a large drawer in the base. Internal depth of the cupboards 18½". Front and sides also veneered in pollard oak with superb Renaissance style relief carved panels to the doors featuring scrolling foliage, grotesques and flower heads. Moulded drawer fronts retaining the original large copper plated handles. Fluted detail to the uprights between the doors and drawers, repeated at the sides. Mahogany lined interior and drawers. With a worn paper label inside the top drawer for T.G Wood, Cabinet Makers of Sheffield. Some minor damage to the carving on the middle door panel. Otherwise excellent colour and condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops. Keys supplied.
