Oriental Brass Bound Camphor Chest c.1950

Splendid mid 20th.c. oriental brass bound chest c.1950. In solid camphor wood, a fragrant and pest resistant timber traditionally used for travelling chests as it helped protect the contents during passage. Oversized decorative brass bindings to the top front and rear, and also at the corners, with engraved decoration and Chinese characters. Large brass carry handles, also decorated, to the sides. Polished and decorated all round it would make a fine feature coffee table. Brass hinges and stay. Excellent colour and condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
