Marquetry Inlaid Rosewood Sewing Table c.1870.
Mid 19th.c. inlaid rosewood sewing table c.1870. Octagonal top with rosewood segmented veneers with elaborate marquetry inlays in birdseye maple and mahogany and an ogee moulded edge. Opens to reveal a fitted interior with original lining paper, featuring small compartments for threads etc around a central well. Note how the marquetry design from the top is repeated in negative on the inside of the lid. Inlaid panels around the apron plus small turned droppers at each corner. Flared octagonal stem, turned collar and shaped feet also rosewood with further inlaid marquetry. Very good colour and condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops. Key supplied.
