Maple Davenport Writing Desk c.1860.
Superb quality little davenport writing desk or bureau in maple c.1860. 22″ x 14″ writing slope with a green leather and a small shelf with raised gallery above. Lockable slope lifts to reveal a maple lined interior with storage space and two small drawers. Sliding and hinged pen tray which pulls out from the right hand side. Bank of four drawers of graduated height plus a small leather top shelf in the right hand side of the desk, all repeated as dummy fronts on the left and retaining the original turned knobs to both sides. Writing slope raised on a fine pair of twist carved columns with turned terminals. Sparkling maple veneers across the piece also continued on the rear. Crossbanded plinth raised on turned bun feet with original brass castors recessed below. Very good colour and condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops. Key supplied.
