Mahogany Secretaire Abattant Writing Bureau c.1840
Mid 19th.c. French biedermeier style mahogany and marble top secretaire abattant or writing bureau c.1840. Open the fall to reveal a large desk (30″ knee height below) with a tooled leather writing surface. Fitted interior with an open bookshelf plus one long and five small stationery drawers. With a long frieze drawer above the bureau and a two door cupboard below. Original grey marble top with rounded front corners. Exceptionally well figured flame mahogany veneers arranged in a beautiful symmetrical pattern across the drawer, fall and door fronts and continued on the desk interior. Moulded plinth, also veneered to match, and raised on the original turned bun feet. Oak drawer and cupboard linings and back panel. Excellent colour and condition, cleaned and polished in our workshops. Note the original locks, key supplied.
