Mahogany Breakfast Dining Table c.1840

Very handsome mid 19th.c. mahogany breakfast dining or centre table c.1840. 50½" diameter top veneered with beautifully figured 'plum pudding' mahogany (so called because of the characteristic dark flecks in the grain), laid to form a symmetrical pattern onto solid mahogany groundwork. With a slim crossbanded apron to the edge. On a flame mahogany column pedestal with a carved segmented collar at the base. Over an unusual segmented plinth raised on four carved feet with the original brass castors below. Top can be tipped to vertical when not in use (or removed for delivery), locking into place with the original catch. Excellent colour and condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
