Large Tapestry of a Boar Hunt
Large 15th.c. Flemish style tapestry panel by Tapisseries du Lion of France. Measuring 64″ x 50″, a copy of a section of one of the celebrated Devonshire Hunt Tapestries (c.1420) to be seen in the V&A museum. Set in a dense forest with a chateau in the background, several finely dressed figures observe the hunting of a wild boar with hounds. Within a detailed border of foliage and flowers. Woven tapestry padded and lined to give depth to the figures. In excellent condition with good bright colours and original labels.
