Large Tabriz Persian Carpet c.1960

Attractive vintage Iranian Persian carpet c.1960. Measuring over 11 feet long by 8 feet wide. Hand knotted short wool pile with dazzling pattern of tessellating diamond shapes in different colours each with floral detail within. Set inside a broad border with a continuation of the pattern plus multiple bands of decoration and a tassel edge to the shorter sides. Original importer's label on the rear identifying the origin as Tabriz in North West Iran. Tabriz rugs are prized for their use of a wide palette of colours and the regularity of their weave. Very good condition with good even colour.
