Large Oak Kneehole Desk by Galloway & Sykes of Aberdeen c.1880.

Superb quality large Arts & Crafts style oak kneehole desk by the Scottish cabinet makers Galloway & Sykes of Aberdeen c.1880. Two small banks of drawers topped with pierced brass galleries either side of a letter rack with a hinged lid. Desk top with a sloped centre and retaining the original tooled tan leather skivers. Good sized kneehole (width 25" x height 23¼") with one drawer above and flanked with four drawers of graduated height to both sides. At the rear of the desk are two locking cupboards each fitted with two shelves inside (internal depth 7½"). Moulded drawer fronts all retaining their original Arts & Crafts style brass handles. Raised and fielded panels to the doors and at the sides. Reeded uprights and moulded plinth raised on large pot castors. Original maker's label inside the lid of the letter rack. Some old wear to the desk top, generally excellent colour and condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops. Keys supplied for all the drawers below the desktop and for the rear cupboards.
