Large Mahogany Chest of Drawers with Blanket Box Top c.1850

Large mid 19th.c. mahogany linen chest c.1850. Unusual blanket box top (internal height 11") over three long drawers of graduated height. Solid mahogany top with a crossbanded front edge. Dummy drawer fronts to disguise the box top with symmetrically arranged flame mahogany veneers, ebony mouldings and a deep crossbanded border. Matched mahogany veneered drawer fronts with cockbeaded edges and bone escutcheons, all retaining the original turned mahogany knobs. Solid mahogany sides and raised on the original crisply turned mahogany feet. Some old wear to the right hand side of the chest, otherwise excellent original colour and condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops. Blanket box key supplied.
