Gothic Oak Desk c.1890

Quality late 19th.c. oak davenport style writing desk c.1890. Raised gallery shelf and four small drawers over a slightly sloping desk top. The desk top lift open with storage below (suitable for a laptop). Two door cupboard below the desk, fitted with a single shelf inside (depth 15"). Superb Gothic detail with finely carved blind tracery detail to the gallery, drawer fronts and below the desk. Note also the key escutcheon, pointed finials and pierced brackets supporting the desk top. Carved linen fold door panels and flat panelled sides, all within chamfered rails and mullions. Solid oak shelf, back and floor boards. Interesting French paper label to the rear, dated 1889, suggesting it may have originally been made for a library in Bruges. Excellent condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops. Key supplied.
