Georgian Oak Bureau c.1800

Late Georgian oak writing bureau c.1800. Open the fall to reveal a good sized writing surface (plenty of room for a laptop) and original fitted interior of pigeon holes, ten slim stationery drawers and a little lockable cupboard at the centre. Two short drawers and three long drawers of graduated depth below the desk. Solid oak top, fall and sides, note the inlaid ebony and birch wheel detail on the front of the fall, also repeated inside. Mahogany crossbanded edge to the fall and drawer fronts. Original and very elegant Georgian brass handles and original bracket feet front and rear. Unusual use of fruitwood on the interior drawer fronts, the drawer linings and the backboards, a feature of quality provincial or country cabinet making. Excellent colour and condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops. Key supplied.
