French Empire Dressing Table c.1820
Impressive French Empire or Restoration era mahogany dressing table c.1820. 16½" x 22" arch top mirror in a flame mahogany frame. Angle adjustable on veneered tapering columns topped with a splendid pair of Classical urn finials in brass, and supporting a pair of hinged brass candle sconces. Over three small oak lined drawers and the table top laid with a pink leather skiver with gilt tooled edge. With a single lockable drawer below featuring a sliding work surface in matching pink leather with a pen tray and two small brass lined compartments to the right hand side. The work surface slides back to allow access to the drawer. Raised on tapering column legs front and rear, also in flame mahogany and with chased brass fittings top and bottom. Joined with shaped H stretchers and on turned pad feet. Some minor wear and repairs. Generally very good colour and condition, restored cleaned and waxed in our workshops. Key supplied for the main drawer.
