Exceptional Arts & Crafts Display Cabinet c.1900

Exceptional Arts & Crafts or Art Nouveau display cabinet c.1900. Bow fronted display top featuring leaded glass doors with scores of individual glass panes. Fitted inside with a single shelf (max internal depth 11") and retaining the original velvet lining fabric. Over an open serpentine fronted shelf and a two door cupboard below fitted with two shelves inside (depth 12") and flanked with two tall niches. Fabulous decoration to the door panels which are inlaid with an Art Nouveau plant design in contrasting woods and mother of pearl. Repeated on the slim centre bar between the glazed doors, note also the a beautiful row of inlaid pearl flower heads at the waist. The organic theme continues in the carved and pierced flower heads above the open shelf and niches and in the long copper escutcheons. Wide moulded and overhanging cornice supported on pierced brackets which are repeated to support the front edge of the open shelf. Single piece solid mahogany sides, pierced top and bottom to form slim stiles. Joined at the base with a low stretcher shelf, note the pierced heart motif to the apron above and how the shelf is tenoned through the sides. Raised on flared feet front and rear. Excellent colour and condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops, keys supplied.
