Empire Style Pedestal Desk c.1920

Impressive early 20th century French Empire style mahogany and brass mounted pedestal desk c.1920. 56" x 33" top with a tooled red leather work surface within a mahogany surround with moulded edge. Over three drawers and a pair of cupboards, each with a single drawer inside, arranged around a large central kneehole. The rear of the desk, designed to face into the room, is extensively decorated with a row of large Classical style gilded brass caryatid busts and brass mounts (also repeated on the sides). Raised and fielded panels to the back, sides and the doors. Brass escutcheons and further mounts and roundels to the base. Excellent condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops. Keys supplied. Note the desk disassembles for ease of delivery.
