Carved Oak Settle c.1890

Small late 19th.c. carved oak settle or hall bench c.1890. Low backrest with a wavy top rail over rows of turned spindles and a cared frame with the uprights featuring a flower and vase motif and joined with unusual Gothic trefoil arch shaped stretchers. Sloping arms with the terminals carved as amusing male and female character heads on scroll carved supports. Single piece board seat with a carved edge over an apron featuring a repeat of the turned spindles and wavy rail from the backrest. Raised on turned legs front and rear, with carved detail and bun feet and joined with an H stretcher. Excellent colour and condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
