Carved & Gilded Eagle Lectern c.1830
Unusual early 19th.c. French lectern c.1830. Splendid carved and gilded wooden eagle perched with fierce looking claws on a sphere. The back of the wings forming a sloping rest with an applied ledge below. Raised on a tall turned column in walnut with tripod legs carved with simple scroll detail to the feet. Old repairs to both wings, and some missing portions of gilt. Otherwise very good condition with original gilding.
