Camphorwood Campaign Chest c.1880
Good example of the classic camphorwood military campaign chest c.1880. In solid camphorwood, a fragrant and pest resistant timber designed to protect the contents during passage, further strengthened with brass bindings and corners. Unusual inlaid plaque to the lid featuring the initials GA. Flush fitting brass handles and lock plates to the front and heavy brass carry handles to the sides. Some typical old wear generally excellent colour and condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
