Anglo Indian Display Cabinet c.1930
Rare early 20th.c. Anglo Indian or Chinese display cabinet c.1930. Of unusual tapering form narrowing in width and depth toward the top. Two door cabinet glazed on the front and sides and fitted inside with two shelves (internal depth of the shelves and base 16"/17"/18"). In solid hardwood (possibly padauk) the exterior carved with a frieze of lotus leaves around the top and bottom and a dense pattern of leaves and flowers to the frame. Raised on a shaped plinth carved with foliate detail and stylised dragon heads to the corners over neat little carved feet with pointed toes. Note how the carving is continued at the rear of the cabinet. Some wear and repairs around the base, generally excellent colour and condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
