Adjustable Wine Table & Reading Stand c.1870

Mid 19th.c. adjustable combined reading or music stand and side table by the London maker Leveson & Sons c.1870. Designed to stand beside a chair or bed. Featuring a mahogany book holder (17" x 11") with brass page stays on an articulated arm and a 15” diameter circular wine table with a raised and moulded edge. Both height adjustable (from 25" - 55") on a telescopic column, the height, angle and horizontal position of the book stand can also be further adjusted with a lockable ball and socket joint below and movable joint in the arm. On a heavy cast iron base for stability with four crisply cast claw feet. Repair to the table top, otherwise excellent original condition with a large brass maker’s badge to the underside of the book stand.
