Davenport Writing Desk by Lamb of Manchester c.1880
Davenport writing desk or bureau in oak by the acclaimed English cabinet makers Lamb of Manchester c.1880. 23″ x 17″ writing slope with a tooled leather. The small flat shelf with raised gallery above is hinged, opening to reveal a mahogany lined letter rack with ink well and pen tray. Lockable slope lifts to reveal a maple lined interior. With a bank of four drawers of graduated height in the right hand side of the desk all with their original brass handles and held closed with the lockable hinged right hand pilaster. Panelled front with carved roundels flanked with turned columns below carved and moulded bracket supports. Projecting front feet with small castors below. Stamped Lamb Manchester below the slope. Some old wear, most obvious at the rear of the piece. Generally very good colour and condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops. Keys supplied for the slope and drawers.
