William IV Walnut Writing Table c.1835

Superb quality William IV walnut writing or table c.1835, attributed to the acclaimed London cabinet maker George Seddon. Beautifully figured walnut veneers to the top, arranged to form a quartered symmetrical pattern. Over a slim mahogany drawer, the polished walnut veneered front and unusual carved moulding to the bottom edge continued on the sides and rear of the table. Raised on pairs of turned column legs with papyrus leaf carving, joined with a turned stretcher (set high to allow the table to be sat at easily) with carved roundels to the terminals. Swept feet front and rear, on the original brass castors with superb and very distinctive cast brass toes. Serial number stamped inside the drawer. Excellent colour and condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
