Welsh Oak Coffor Bach c.1760

Delightful little mid 18th.c. Welsh oak 'coffor bach' or miniature chest c.1760. Just 29" wide. Flat (rather than panelled) top with a moulded edge and braces on the underside notched into the back rail to make a simple hinge. Three raised and fielded panels across the front of the chest set within moulded rails and mullions. Note the pegged construction and the inlaid fruitwood escutcheon. Raised on a slightly wider plinth holding a single drawer. Cockbeaded drawer front with later brass knobs. Applied mouldings to the waist and bottom edge. Solid oak sides and back. Very good colour and condition, restored cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
