Welsh Coffor Bach c.1770

Delightful little mid 18th.c. Welsh oak 'coffor bach' or miniature chest c.1760. Just 21.5" wide. Flat (rather than panelled) top with a moulded edge. Note the original braces on the underside notched into the back to make a simple hinge. Internal height of the chest 9½". Lovely ogee arch shaped raised and fielded panels to the front of the chest set within a moulded surround. Slightly wider plinth holding a single drawer with a moulded front and (later) Georgian brass handles with engraved back plates. Very attractively shaped apron to the bottom edge below the drawer. Solid oak sides, back and floor. Very good colour and condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
