Cased Taxidermy Display of a Bittern c.1880
Rare late 19th.c. cased taxidermied bittern by D.Newby of Thetford c.1880. A large Eurasian bitten presented with throat feathers fluffed (in display or alarm). Stood amongst grasses and moss on a painted simulated ground in a simple glass fronted wooden case. Nice paper maker's label to the rear. Very good condition.
