Spelter Figure of a Javelin Thrower by Jean-Louis Gregoire c.1900

Large spelter figure of a javelin thrower after the French sculptor Jean-Louis Gregoire (1840-1890) c.1900. Standing 28" tall. Modelled as a ancient Greek athlete in a simple tunic and posed as having just released his throw. Applied copper plate engraved Jet du Javelot. Gregoire to the front of the base. Signed in the cast and with a Paris maker's stamp. Obvious wear to the bronze coloured finish. Otherwise very good condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
