Silver Bulldog Vesta Hallmarked London 1907

Charming and rare Edwardian silver novelty vesta case in the form of a bulldog by The Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Co, London, 1907. Beautifully made with an amusing rotating head, hinged at the neck opening to reveal a little space inside for matches. With a rough strip to strike matches against between the legs on the underside and a hoop at the rear for fastening to a watch chain or similar. Clear sets of hallmarks for London 1907 on the main body, inside the hinged neck and behind one of the ears. Makers stamp for The Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Co on one of the back legs. Very good condition.
