Set of Six Carved Oak Gothic Dining Chairs c.1880

Beautiful set of six Gothic revival carved oak dining chairs c.1880. Tall ogee arch backrests with beautiful pierced tracery detail (note the different design at the centre of two of the chairs), topped with carved finials and scrolling leaf forms. Between the carved rear stiles each topped with a unique carved beast gargoyle. Board seats with moulded edges and a slim moulded apron below. Raised on turned front legs joined with chamfered H stretchers. Note how the rear legs are swept backwards at the foot for extra stability. Excellent colour and condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
