Set of Four Welsh Oak Cottage Dining Chairs c.1850
Good set of four small mid 19th.c. Welsh cottage oak dining chairs c.1850. Low backs with shaped top rails featuring a mahogany inlaid lozenge and crossbanding (typical of furniture produced on the Isle of Anglesey), over turned stretchers. Board seat on square legs joined with stretchers to each side for strength. Note the pegged construction and how the front stretcher is a repeat of the one on the backrest though worn almost smooth on the top. Excellent colour and condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
