Secretaire Chest of Drawers c.1820

Handsome and fine quality early 19th.c mahogany secretaire chest of drawers c.1820. The upper drawer fronts fold open on curving brass stays to form a writing bureau (desk height 27½") with a green baize writing surface and a bank of 11 small drawers, one fitted for an inkstand complete with ink wells. With three large drawers of graduated height below the desk. Mahogany veneered (onto mahogany groundwork) top with an ogee edge moulding. Matched veneers to the drawer fronts (laid onto oak) with cockbeaded edges and heavy brass swan neck handles. Oak drawer linings. Solid mahogany sides to the cabinet. Ogee moulding around the base and shaped bracket feet to the front and sides. Excellent colour and condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops. Key supplied for the bureau drawer.
