Sculpture of a Gun Dog c.1890
Late 19th.c. sculpture of a gun dog by the celebrated French animal sculptor Jules Moigniez c.1890. Very well cast in spelter as a gun dog retrieving a shot pheasant. Superb detail to the coat and feathers, with lovely golden bronze finish to the dog and a darker contrasting finish to the bird and the base, which also features fine naturalistic detail, something of a trademark of Moigniez's work. Signed in the cast on the front of the base and marked France on the rear. Excellent condition.
