Rosewood Davenport Writing Desk c.1860
Charming little mid 19th.c. rosewood davenport writing desk or bureau c.1860. 21″ x 15″ writing slope with a thumb moulded edge, below a small shelf with raised and pierced gallery. Lift the slope to reveal the original fitted interior with six pigeon holes and three small stationery drawers. With a hinged pen tray and four drawers of graduated height in the right hand side below the desk. The slope is supported on a fine pair of curving and pierced brackets with turned and segmented finial droppers and scrolling bases. Beautifully figured rosewood veneers to the front, sides and rear. Original turned rosewood knobs and brass escutcheons. Raised on a crossbanded plinth and turned bun feet with brass castors recessed below. Some discolouration to the back panel, otherwise excellent colour and condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops. Key supplied.
