Regency Overmantle Mirror c.1830

Early 19th.c. English Regency giltwood and gesso overmantle mirror c.1830. Original 44½" x 31½" mirror plate within a gilded wooden frame. Half columns with moulded gesso capitals with anthemion motifs, moulded gesso flower heads to the top corners. Original gilding worn to a lovely mellow colour. Reeded ebonsied slip around the mirror plate and an ebonised trim along the bottom edge of the frame. Original backboards with a lovely illustrated paper label for the London maker and gilder Benjamin Elliott of Clerkenwell. Some obvious tarnish to the mirror and minor retouching to the frame. Otherwise very good condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
