Plaster Portrait Bust of a Physician c.1900
Superb plaster portrait bust of medical interest c.1900. Head and shoulders length bust of a gentleman, depicted naked in the Classical tradition, with combed hair and a splendid pair of long mutton chop sideburns. Raised on a 9" x 8" plinth featuring at a front the Bowl of Hygieia with a serpent and chalice, an ancient symbol associated with pharmacy and the medical profession. Original terracotta coloured finish. Excellent condition.
