Pair of Welsh Oak Armchairs c.1810

Rare pair of late Georgian Welsh oak open armchairs c.1810. Simple but rather elegant design, the tapered backrests with straight top rails over moulded slats and a double back stretcher divided by turned balls. Gently curving arms on turned urn shaped supports. Generously proportioned seats, (19½" wide between the arm supports, height 17") on tapering square stiles with a stretcher to each side for strength. Note the pegged construction. Excellent colour and condition, simply cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
