Pair of Liberty & Co. Nursery Prints by Cecil Aldin c.1901
Delightful pair of nursery prints after Cecil Aldin as retailed by Liberty of London c.1901. Coloured prints on textured paper featuring illustrations of Dutch girls and boys in clogs running hand in hand by the British artist Cecil Aldin. Signed in the print and dated as having been registered with the Library of Congress in 1901. Presented behind glass in simple moulded frames with a white painted finish. Presented as found, good condition with minor wear to the frames.
Liberty & Co. produced a range of nursery art and wallpapers featuring the work of Celcil Aldin designed to 'train the eye from infancy to discriminate and enjoy artistic work'. These prints were featured in Liberty's 1901 'Yude-Tide Gifts' catalogue, as illustrated on page 179 & 180 of Liberty's Furniture 1875-1915 The Birth of Modern Interior Design by Daryl Bennet.
