Pair of Large Japanese Satsuma Vases by Kinkozan c.1900
Splendid pair of large Satsuma vases by the celebrated pottery of Kinkozan in Kyoto c.1900. Baluster form vases standing 21½" tall. The main bodies featuring large white chrysanthemum heads and gilded leaves against an unusual purple ground. Flared collars with a lovely gilded collars with raised enamel decoration. Note the mythical beasts on the frieze around the tops. 6" bases with further bands of gilded decoration. Large handwritten marks on the underside of both vases. With an old repair to the lip on one vase and some wear to the glaze around the shoulders of both vases. Otherwise good condition.
