Pair of Drawer Pedestals with Floral Decoration c.1920

Delightful pair of small drawer pedestals with beautiful hand painted decoration. Eight small drawers to each, lined in green silk with internal dimensions of 8½" x 8" x 2¼", ideal for jewellery, accessories etc. Black lacquered finish with flakes of mother of pearl set into the surface. Remarkable hand painted decoration of flowers across the tops, fronts and sides of both cabinets. Very well observed botanical detail - note how none are repeated, with each drawer front featuring two separate specimens and fabulous arrangements of multiple flowers on the sides of each cabinet . Gold painted borders and corner detail. Attractive gilded brass handles and back plates, also of floral form (one replacement grip). Raised on low moulded plinths with shaped lower edge, also decorated to match. Excellent condition. Note there is a very slight difference in height between the two pedestals.
