Oriental Shibayama Screen c.1960.

Decorative oriental folding screen c.1960. Four 16" wide panels. Decorated with a continuous scene featuring multiple figures in traditional dress set amongst an oriental garden with pagoda roofed buildings in the background. Over four botanical specimens to the lower portion. The decoration is the manner of Japanese Shibayama work featuring pieces of carved coloured stone, shell and bone to create a three dimensional design. Set against a black lacquered ground with gold painted decoration and a mother of pearl inlaid border. Further painted decoration to the rear. Brass hinges and brass mounts to the feet. Very good condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
