Oil Painting of Le Pont de Sospel c.1950

Large oil painting on board of the medieval bridge at Sospel in South Western France c.1950. Showing buildings beside the river Bévera with flowers and washing on the balconies. One of the bridge's arches occupies the left hand side of the canvas whilst its famous tower is represented in the shadow cast across the buildings opposite. Painted in a restricted palette of thick oils laid with a knife. Signed Zicca in the lower right hand corner of the picture. Paper label to the rear from an exhibition of the Societe Lyonaise des Beaux Artes featuring the title and the artist's address. Presented as found in a carved and gilded frame. Small scuff in the top left hand corner of the painting and minor wear to the frame, otherwise good condition.
