Colonial American Style Oak Coffer c.1790
Late 18th.c. oak coffer c.1790. Flat (rather than panelled) two plank lid with a simple thumb moulded edge. Over an three panel front with unusual raised decoration of split-turned spindles and egg shaped lozenges, in the manner found on colonial era American furniture from Connecticut and Massachusetts. Useful storage inside with a small compartment to the right hand side. Iron hinges, oak panelled sides and rear and oak floor boards. Missing a small portion of decoration to the left hand front stile. Otherwise very good colour and condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
