Metamorphic Library Steps and Side Chair c.1900

Ingenious metamorphic library steps and side chair in walnut c.1900. Unusual wavy back stretchers between angled stiles, shaped front legs with cupid's bow stretcher. Backrest and seat fold over to make a useful set of library steps, the top step is 37½" from the floor (a little taller than many we see). Held in position with metal stays to both sides. Excellent colour and condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
