Unusual mid 19th.c. mahogany bookcase with a folding lectern top c.1840. 20″ x 17.5″ top, hinged at the front and supported on a fine brass ratchet to make a sloped lectern or music stand with a removable raised ledge. Over two shelves for large books, magazines or sheet music perhaps with crisp turned column supports at the corners, repeated as 30 slimmer turned columns around all four sides and in a line down the centre of both shelves. With a useful little drawer in the base. Raised on the original brass cup castors. Excellent condition and lovely mellow colour, cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
